 Views in this section were taken from a balloon tethered in Castle Park. Its launching pad, situated just where the old Bristol Castle used to stand, places it right in the heart of the mediaeval area, just outside the city walls and close to the Old Market.
Although not the highest viewpoint in Bristol, the balloon offers an excellent panorama of the city's centre and docks. We hope you can get some feel for the old and new city from our pictures.

| Quality Note: The following pictures were taken on a single 'flight' of the balloon on a sunny day, the 3rd August 1999. As a result some views are well lit, some have deep shadows, and distance views may suffer from atmospheric haze. We have attempted to enhance images where appropriate and within the limits of the original photographic slide. |
